Q: What is the story behind Magnolia Bakery and its rise to fame?
A: Magnolia opened its first location on a cozy street corner in the heart of New York's West Village (401 Bleecker Street) in the summer of 1996. From its inception, Magnolia has been cherished for its classic American baked goods, vintage decor and warm, inviting atmosphere.

We are dedicated to serving nearly 120 fresh, handmade menu items with superior customer service. From fresh-fruit pies and delectable cakes to rich cheesecakes and creamy whoopie pies, our team makes each dessert by hand, on the premises throughout the day.

Our desserts captured the attention of a worldwide audience after being featured on the hit TV show Sex and the City, the SNL Digital Short: Lazy Sunday, and in popular movies such as The Devil Wears Prada and Prime. Our reputation continued to grow through mentions on TODAY, 30 Rock, E!, The Martha Stewart Show, Regis & Kelly, Weeds, CNN and Fox Business News.

But we know why people keep coming back to visit our bakeries… it's the banana pudding!

Q: Who owns Magnolia Bakery?
A: Native New Yorkers Steve and Tyra Abrams, along with their daughter, are the owners of the Magnolia Bakery. Steve is a veteran restaurateur and consultant while his wife, Tyra brings her old-fashioned sensibility and creativity to the Bakery's style. Their young daughter is the self proclaimed "Chief Taste Tester."

Q: How do I apply for a job at Magnolia Bakery?
A: We appreciate your interest in Magnolia Bakery as a potential employer. Resumes may be submitted to helpwanted@magnoliabakery.com. Due to the volume of resumes and submissions of interest that we receive, we are unable to contact all candidates personally to provide status updates. Resumes received will be reviewed against our current openings. Should there be a match for your background and skills against our current openings, we will contact you. Q: Do you offer internships or externships?
A: Magnolia internships/externships offer qualified full-time students and recent grads the opportunity to put their know-how to use and get practical real-world experience. Q: Can Magnolia donate to my charity?
A: We strive to produce the highest quality baked goods at the highest level of responsibility and partner with charities whose commitment to their passions matches ours. Please see Philanthropy for more information and email donationrequest@magnoliabakery.com at least one month prior to your event. Magnolia donates to 501(c)(3) charity organizations only. Due to the significant number of requests we receive, we are sorry we are unable to personally respond to every request.

Product Information

Q: What are the Magnolia Bakery cake icing colors?
A: Magnolia's signature pastel buttercream icing colors come in pale pink, blue, yellow, green, lavender and white, as well as chocolate buttercream. Special colors are available upon request with advance notice.

Q: Which cakes can be decorated?
A: Most, but not all, of our cakes can be decorated. Some cakes will not hold elaborate decorations because of the texture of the icing. Cakes that cannot be decorated or have an inscription include: coconut, German chocolate, icebox cake, flourless chocolate cake and lemon vanilla Bundt cake.

Q: Can I customize my cake order?
A: Yes, cakes and cupcakes can be decorated with edible images, inscriptions and themed sugar decons. The image is edible ink printed on top of rice paper that adheres to the icing and inscriptions are in buttercream. Cakes are an additional $25 and classic cupcakes start at $5.00 each. Call your local bakery or 1-855-MBakery (855-622-5379) to speak with our customer service representative.

Q: Should I refrigerate my cake or cupcakes?
A: No that will dry them out. We specialize in old-fashioned baked goods, made from scratch and baked in small batches throughout the day, using only the finest ingredients. Our product is made without preservatives and should be enjoyed on the day received. If you plan on storing them overnight, tightly wrap the box in plastic wrap and leave at room temperature.

Q: Where can I find the nutritional information for your cupcakes?
A: We use a variety of premium ingredients in our cupcakes and icings including milk, cream, butter, eggs, sugar, and flour. Our cupcakes do not contain any preservatives or trans fats in either the cake or icing. Currently we do not have any other nutritional information available for review.

Q: I have food allergies. Does Magnolia make anything wheat/dairy/nut free?
A: We use the finest dairy, flour and nut products. We recommend not consuming any of our products if you have any food allergies.

Q: Which products do not contain nuts?
A: While peanuts and other tree nuts may not be a key ingredient in every one of our baked goods, all of our baked goods are made in the same area where products containing various nut items are created. Though best practices are used in the manufacturing of our baked goods, inadvertent cross-contamination may occur.

Q: Does Magnolia have any gluten-free items?
A: Our flourless chocolate cake is gluten-free.

Q: Does Magnolia have anything sugar free?
A: No.

Q: Is Magnolia Bakery kosher?

Q: Does Magnolia Bakery cater?
A: Magnolia creates beautiful dessert tables and cupcake tree displays for all types of celebrations: from weddings and graduations, to birthdays and corporate events. We offer drop-off catering services or can host an event in the private party room of our Columbus Avenue location on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. We also offer cupcake decorating and icing demonstration tables to delight and entertain your guests.

Q: What type of custom orders can you do?
A: We'll send your guests home with personalized party favors that provide a sweet reminder of your big day. We can design individually boxed cupcakes with your monogram, favorite picture or company's logo. Specially packaged cookies can be made to order, tagged with your event information and tied up with a ribbon. Q: Does Magnolia Bakery make wedding cakes?
A: We specialize in beautiful deconstructed wedding cakes, dessert tables and cupcake trees displays. We work closely with the bride and groom and offer a dynamic selection of options they can mix and match to create the perfect look for a stunning and delicious dessert spread. Q: Can Magnolia Bakery host my party?
A: Our Columbus Avenue location on the Upper West Side of Manhattan offers space for all-inclusive parties for children and adults. Children can decorate chef hats, hand color sprinkles and learn how to ice a cupcake like a Magnolia professional. Goody bags, balloons and a customized birthday cake are all included. You invite the guests and we'll take care of the rest!

Q: How can I place an advanced order in NY, LA or Chicago?
A: For same day orders in New York City call your local bakery. For advanced orders in New York, call 1-855-MBakery (855-622-5379). In Los Angeles, call 323-951-0636. In Chicago, call 312-346-7777. DO NOT send your order by email. Unfortunately emailed orders will not be honored.

Q: How far in advance should I place my order?
A: We recommend that you call the bakery to place your order at least two days or 48 hours in advance. We can usually accommodate most orders however, the more notice you give us the more likely we will be able to fulfill your order.

Q: Does Magnolia Bakery deliver?
A: Magnolia delivers using an outside courier service in Manhattan, Chicago and Los Angeles for a flat rate. Rush orders or deliveries to the surrounding areas are an additional fee based on proximity. Call your local bakery with the delivery zip code for a quote.

Q: What are the serving sizes for some of your more popular products?

Q: Is there a minimum for specialty cupcakes orders?
A: Because of our small batch size, we ask that specialty flavors be ordered in quantities of one dozen or more.

Q: Can I pre-order squares or brownies?
A: Yes, you can order any amount. We can either box them or create a mixed tray of assorted brownies, squares and cookies.

Q: Does Magnolia Bakery ship baked goods and merchandise?
A: Yes! We ship via FedEx within the 48 contiguous states through our online store. International orders for Magnolia merchandise can also be placed through our website. Unfortunately we are unable to ship baked goods outside of the United States due to customs restrictions. For more information check out our shipping methods and policies.

Q: When will my order be processed?
A: Orders placed prior to 2:00 p.m. EST are processed the following day to ship the next business day. Orders placed after 2:00 p.m. EST and on weekends may be processed the following business day. Business days do not include weekends or holidays.

A: Orders typically ship within 1-2 business days after your order has been processed. Business days do not include weekends or holidays.

Q: When will you start shipping other baked goods I don't see on your site?
A: In the tradition of a bygone era, we bake from scratch without the use of preservatives. We want to insure the quality and freshness of our product and are taking the time to work out any kinks so our baked goods arrive looking as lovely and tasting as delicious as when they left our kitchen. Check our website for updates and sign up for our mailing list to be the first to know when new products are ready to ship.

Over the next few months we'll be making more and more of our classic American baked goods available for nationwide shipping. We look forward to sending them to you in the near future.

Q: Can I use my Magnolia gift card online?
A: Yes, if you have a Magnolia gift card and want to use it for an online purchase please call 855-MBakery (855-622-5379). Our customer service representative will convert the amount on your physical gift card to an eGift Certificate that can easily be used on our website. The amount will immediately be deducted from your gift card and the credit will only be good for purchases made on magnoliabakery.com.

Q: How far in advance can I place my order online?
A: Orders can be placed up to one month in advance on most occasions. Simply select your preferred delivery date from our online ordering system in your shopping bag.

Q: Can I make changes or modifications to the product combinations offered on the website?
A: Sorry, at this time we do not allow substitutions to our product assortments, and only offer items to be shipped as they are listed. Check back to our site to see new flavors, seasonal and holiday specialty items, and baker's choice selections as they are added.

Q: What are your shipping rates?
A: For real time rates provided by FedEx, place an item in your shopping bag at our online store and then click the Determine Shipping link on the chalkboard next to the truck icon. For more information check out our shipping methods and policies.

Q: Do you do same-day shipping?
A: At Magnolia Bakery, everything is made fresh from scratch using the finest ingredients. Since we bake to order we cannot ship same day. All orders placed before 2:00 PM EST will be processed the next day to ship the following business day.

Q: When will my package arrive?
A: We are sorry we are unable to specify an exact delivery time. Use your tracking number to track the status of your package on Fedex.com. Deliveries typically occur during normal business hours and depend on service selected. Your tracking number may not appear in the FedEx tracking system for 24 hours. Please be patient. You will be able to see it flow through the FedEx system and know the exact day it will arrive.

Q: What happens if I'm not home to receive my delivery?
A: While Magnolia does not require a signature for your delivery, we can only guarantee the quality of our product if it is received by the shipping time selected by the customer at the time of purchase. According to FedEx policy their drivers will only leave the package at a recipient's door, or other secure location, if the driver believes it is 'safe' and reasonable to do so. For this reason it is also necessary for customers to notify a gift recipient of their sweet surprise before the date of delivery.

Q: Q: What if I am not satisfied with my order?

Q: What is your return policy?
A: Our goal is that you are completely satisfied with your purchase. If you are not completely satisfied, please follow our guidelines and we will be happy to help you to return your purchase.

Most merchandise can be refunded or exchanged with an invoice or pack slip receipt within 60 days of purchase. The item must be in brand new, unused condition and returned in its original packaging to receive a refund or exchange. Refunds will be given in the same form of payment originally used. Exchanges will only be mailed out after the original purchase is returned. Product sent back should be done so at the customer's expense, and the replacement item will be mailed back free of charge. Items purchased online can be returned to any of our retail locations in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, or mailed to:

For perishable food items, we make every effort to protect your order from damage during shipping. Any issues that occur which result in your dissatisfaction must be reported immediately upon receipt, and submitted with a photo of the items received to magnoliaonline@magnoliabakery.com.

If there is an error on our part related to your order, we may issue a credit for your order and any applicable shipping. Refunds may not be given for shipping delays caused by inclement weather, package refusal, and/or incomplete or incorrect delivery address.

Q: How can I cancel my order?
